That was my feeling when I tested it in my own compile. . . Good for Qix, bad for Pac-man, Donkey Kong probably a toss-up.

I haven't tried b14 yet. There may be a switch in either the mame.cfg file or an undocumented command line switch.

I was the one who posted the suggestion on the main MAME board. The followup discussion suggested a command-line switch so I thought it would be implemented that way. I expect it will be in the next beta.
