What do you suggest for priming/sealing & painting MDF?

And what length screws? I'll be using "Supergrabber" drywall screws, pre drilling to core dia. and both edge screwing and screwing into 1x2 spars/blocks for added strength. Material is 3/4 MDF and they'll be countersunk. Inch and a halfs good or should I get 2s?
