Pushbutton Spacing

Anybody know how close you can mount HAPP pushbuttons without the undersides interfering with eachother? And also, if you mount them this close on a wooden control panel, will the spaces between the holes be weakened too much?

Anybody have any thoughts on this? Am I making sense? :)

Also... what's the maximum control panel thickness that the buttons can mount on?
