: Thanks Jim.
: I have it set up in DOS MAME to use dual joysticks
: and it works fine, but what I don't understand is Windows will not recognise a second stick regardless of whether I use a Y cable or not! On either of my PCs.
: The wierd thing is, as I stated originally, that in Win 95 I can set up a single controller with 2 additional axes and it will recognise them, but it won't pick up a second controller.
: So I suppose what I really need to find out is what does Windows do to identify a second joystick? Is it all in the Y cable? If so I may as well drop the idea now because I think it would be a waste of time having to emulate the Y cable circuit just to get Windows to recognise 2 axes it already knows are there!!
: If anyone can help at all, I'd really appreciate it.
: : I have no idea how you're trying to get two
: : joysticks recognized without using a Y cable. That's the only way I'd try to do it. I run Win95, use a Y cable and the Dos version of Mame and it works fine. With the Dos version of Mame I think you need to make sure to specify that you are using dual joysticks.
: : good luck

To get windows to recognize it you will have to have a driver for it like everything else.
