I've noticed on many other cabinet project sites that the control panel consists of two 8-way joysticks and one 4-way joystick (to cover most games). However, I was looking through some of the Happ Controls joysticks the other night and noticed that the Universal Joystick (and possibly others that I am not aware of yet) can support both 4- & 8-way operation (by simply repositioning the base stop).
Firstly, I don't know what a "base stop" is (although I assume that it is referring to the entire base of the joystick (ie. the mounting plate etc)). So, for those of you that do know, what exactly is involved in "repositioning the base stop"??
Secondly, and this may be answered by the response to the first question but, is there a reason why so many people don't opt for the combined 4- & 8-way joysticks? Are they a hassle to change from 4 to 8 way (or vice versa) quickly?? Are they more unreliable than a 4- OR 8-way only joystick??
I'd be really keen to hear from personal experiences on this issue.
