I have 3 super Happs joysticks on my cab. 2 are set 8 way, 1 way.

The "bas stop" is a little plastic ring on the underside of the joystick that you flip over and put a little horseshoe type ring on it to hole it in place. It goes on the bottom of the metal shaft.

When it's flipped one way it allows a diagonal (2 switches at a time, ie' up AND left, etc.) When you flip it the other way, only on switch is triggered, ie up OR left, depending on which way you're most pushing.

It isn't that hard to switch around with a pair of needlenose pliers, I'm just lazy. There's some company I remember seeing posting that makes a 4/8way joystick that you flip a little lever to change it. I think the lever was accessible from the side of the joystick or the top. Maybe somebody else here knows the name.
