You definately want some way to scroll through the game list by more than one game at a time, like a page up/page down mode, and home/end as well. When your cursor is on "Amidar", and you want to play "Zaxxon", and you have 2500 games, you'll appreciate that. Can be accomplished with extra "shift" buttons that when pressed cause the joystick to scroll that way.

: : What would be the minimum number of controls (joysticks, buttons, etc.) that you would expect to have on a control panal to use for navigation?

: I think 1 joystick and 4 buttons or 2 joys and 2 buttons per joy.
: Joy 1 could be for going through the gamelist. button 1 would be enter/start. button 2 could be for either popping up the text/tip box, or jumping to a game-list selection area/box (choose between custom lists of games). and the other buttons could pop up the admin stuff or whatever. Actually, I guess just two buttons and one joystick could do it if done right. press both buttons to load up the admin/config stuff. not really all that much that needs doing in a front-end gui...

: Still, I think customizable controls should be included. And erkan is right; multiple fullscreen resolutions and fonts would be great. One thing I don't like about windows front-ends is that they're all (or most) 640x480 or higher and the text is so damn tiny. I don't want to change my windows text settings around just for playing games (not everyone can afford a dedicated pc for this stuff).
