In Reply to: Mistakes might happen (esp. if there's triple-tapping) but why would you use a front-end to rename a file in windows? posted by NThero on 3, 2001 at 10:22 PM:

I meant as an example of a "double-click/tap" situation where it doesn't do what you want, but I didn't mean in a front end, just a general windows example...

When you're using Windows, and you want to change a file name, click once on the name under the icon and it'll become editable, but it's really easy for the thing to misread a single click as a double or vise versa and not do what you want.

When I'm using my front end to scroll through the game list, when I get near the game I want, I'd probably stop holding the joystick down and start tapping until I'm on the right game. If I tap too fast the thing would interpret a "double-tap" instead of two single taps and page down like 10 games. The scrolling would have to be slow enough so that you would not have to let up on the joystick until the proper game is selected. It couldn't scroll quickly, like say mame32...

: Besides, if you're renaming a file you'd have to use a keyboard anyway. And you probably wouldn't use a keyboard and a joystick at the same time...
