I considered that too, but all that tapping you're likely to have mistakes registered (like when you try to click a file in windows to rename it and it accidentally runs etc). If you're gonna have a street fighter style 6-button job no need to conserve, but if you really want to keep it to just a couple buttons then you would need some kind of double tap/click method.
As for anyone having all 2500 games, if you throw out the clones and all the japanese majong stripper games you have like 1500... But I imagine some people just have to have it all :)

: I suggested that double-tapping the joy left or right could act as page up/down and that double-tapping down or up could act as a super fast scroll. But for people with LOTS of games, maybe triple-tapping sideways could jump to the next alphabet and triple-tapping up or down could jump to the top or bottom of the list.
