Optipac+ or Optimouse driver or some other problem?

I have the following in my autoexec.bat

C:\OPTIDRV\CTMOUSE /1
C:\OPTIDRV\OPTIDRV /2

I run mousechk.exe and when I move the primary spinner the x coordinate changes like it is supposed to. When I move the secondary spinner the x coordinate doesn’t change but if I move the spinner in 1 direction the buttons change from 0 to 1 and back, but only as I spin in that direction. Any ideas anyone?
