: Hi Andy,

: The way MAME performs (and what I verified) is what Derrick calls "Fast Sticky" mode. The behaviour you are describing is what Derrick calls "Sticky" mode. His chip can work in either mode AFAIK. I am not sure which mode is better, and it may vary from game to game.

: Also, since MAME emulates "Fast Sticky" mode and derrick uses either mode, it might be possible to amend the mame source code and add command line switces for "-sticky" or "-faststicky", giving us the advantages of Derrick's chip without buying any additional hardware. If anyone knows any of the DEV TEAM members . . . nudge, nudge, wink, wink!!!

: I would like to get more responses on this entire subject, also!

"Fast sticky" is the logic that I came up with. I thought I was really on to something until Derrick posted his findings. Now I think that "sticky" is better.

I have not taken my idea any farther than a discrete circuit diagram, so I cannot comment on its real-life performance. I can tell you that if what you described is correct, then there is no need for my circuit!

I probably should have testing my mame box before pursuing fixes, but such is life.

"Sticky" mode is really what I want to see in action.
