Make sure other devices on the same house circuit are not overloading it. For example, many many lights, a fan motor, an appliance or other stuff can overload it.

Also, it could be a bad power supply that is shorting out somehow.


: I took my old PC out of the case and attached the MB, power supply and HD/CD to a board in the cabinet. Now, every so often, when I flip the power to the surge protector it is attached to, it trips the house breaker for that circuit (out go the lights!)

: I have tried connecting wire with electrical tape between the various components to ground them together (kludgey) -- to no avail.

: Could it be a bad powersupply?

: Any advice?
