Twisty grip spinner.

I put together a twisty grip spinner. I can get it to work very well for tempest, but not well for Arkanoid.

It seems to be either too jumpy and imprecise or too slow, with nothing in the middle. Is this other people's experience? Is there anything that can be done to help its performance in Arkanoid?
