Can 360 joysticks give analog x,y output?

Can I ask why you want to use the 360 joysticks? Is there a way to get analog output from them? If so, I'd upgrade my super-8s immediately. I have been trying to figure out how to get analog control to the joystick PCB for awhile now.

I am aware of the MAS systems pcbs which "simulate" analog input, but I'm a hacker and think there should be an easier way (and not pay for those expensive boards).
