I have checked out the link to the DC-Jamma project page. It does provide some insight into what I desire.

In addition to someone else's recommendation of the Mad Catz Dreampad for hacking purposes, I have also checked out a link (found here at BYOAC) to hack a Happs Perfect 360 stick to DC PCB for even more complete replication of DC controllability.

Thanks for your advice. This looks more and more accessible as I keep reading...
