Thank you very much for taking the time to
answer my questions. I had missed the fact the
I'll need an I-Pac for my buttons.

Essentially the design of my controler is as follows.

These will be installed on the controller horizontally rom left to right:

[Rotary stick][Three buttons][trackball][spinner][three buttons]

My new question:

1) I see that the O-Pac supports two buttons that can be used as mouse buttons. Can these buttons be Happ Push buttons as well? If so I may add two extra buttons to my design, this would be handy with GUI navigation.

2) It states that the I-Pac requires no separte power, if the I-Pac is to supply the O-Pac with power, where does the I-Pac get it's power from? Serial or USB ports?

Thanks again

Zz

: [ 1) Does the Happ 3" track ball require power? ]

: The O-PAC provides the necessary power.

: [ 2) I see the Opti-pac plus requires a 5v power supply ]

: Yup, you need 5V from somewhere. An ideal option is to use an I-PAC for your buttons. The I-PAC can supply the necessary power to the O-PAC.

: [ 3) Will the Opti-pac plus support this configuration:
: 1 x Happ 8 way rotary joystick (50-5618-00)
: 1 x Happ 3" track ball (56-0100-16)
: 1 x Fultra spinner
: 10 x Happ pushbuttons (58-9166-L) ]

: Yes, except for the buttons. The O-PAC is for rotary controls, not buttons. You'll need something else to interface to your buttons (I-PAC, keyboard hack, Hagstrom, whatever).

: [ 4) To connect devices to the Opti-pac plus will I have to cut off the molded connectors and connect the individual wires? ]

: Yup, according to the O-PAC FAQ page:

: [ 5) Do the Happ joystick and track balls come with mounting bolts? or are these a separate order? ]

: Separate. Happ has black bolts. You also might want the Happ trackball plate.
