Very Important Question - CPU Speeds

A few posts below I mentioned i'm making my own arcade setup and the main CPU was going to be a AMD TBird 800MHz. Now i made that decision for only one reason...

I used to have a PII 400 that ran better graphic games like Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom and Smash TV VERY poorly...they were very choppy. Then I recently upgraded my main computer to an AMD TBird 800 and now those type of games run extremely smoothly!

My question is though, will a Duron 800 or even a Duron 700 CPU still be fast enough to give me perfectly smooth playability on those type of games?

And what about Neo Geo ROMS? (I don't have any yet, so I couldn't test how my TBird 800 would work on them...but I know they are the most advanced MAME games that would tax my CPU the most)
