Trackball recommendations/Mounting trackballs to wood control panels

I have an old moon patrol/joust/robotron control panel, which is 3/4" wood. Can anyone give me any advice on what is a good arcade trackball to use, and how to mount it?

Looking at the Happs trackballs, they say that they're meant for metal control panels. Would I just cut a big hole for the mounting plate, and put some metal L-brackets to hold it in?

What about other trackballs? (Atari? Wico? Imperial? Are Imperial TB's any good? They didn't seem to offer a mounting plate on their website, even...)

I am thinking about a 3" trackball, btw. I want something that I can give a good spin to...
