First off, let me just say (and I'm sure that dozens of people here will agree) that this board is an invaluable source of information. I'm very grateful to everyone who's helped me out through the long and arduous (but fun!) process of building my cabinet.
I'm using someone else's plans for the basis of my cab design. One of the few areas where I've found disagreement with the original plans is the size of the Lexan control panel overlay. The original plans call for cutting the Lexan 1/8" smaller than the panel all the way around, to recess the sharp edge of the plastic. Well, I've tried that, and I don't like the way it looks. I'd rather have the Lexan flush with the sides of the panel. I figure if the sharp edge turns out to be a problem, I can bevel it.
So here's my question: can I use a laminate trimming router bit on Lexan mounted on top of my control panel? The guy at Home Depot said I could, but I wanted to get a second opinion before I ruined maybe a second sheet of the expensive stuff. This is the 0.093" thick Lexan, not the quarter-inch stuff.
Bonus question: Competition, Super, or Universal? (I already know enough not to go with Ultimate.)
