Sorry, Howard - couldn't let this one slide.

Delphi is hardly a "strange" choice for a prog lang - having developed production apps in VC++, VB, Java, and Delphi, I would choose Delphi nearly every time, especially for a small app like a FE. Developed more rapidly in VC++? Give me a break.

And no, I'm not a rabid Borland fan - just use the tools that are available to me, and Delphi is an awesome tool.

Do agree with you about the windowsy look and feel of EL tho - ArcadeFX and RD definately add a nice non-computery look to a cabinet.

I'm currently working on a DOS based FE inspired (mostly) by ArcadeFX; there's still a lot of folks out there who want to run DOS only cabs (myself included) without all of the windows overhead. Why bother? ArcadeOS is awesome, but lacks a couple of features that I want, namely the ability to create custom playlists based upon a filter / query; it also looks clunky compared to the newer generation of FEs.

As I said earlier, I would be happy to look at updating EL if someone wants the functionality.

: I always have to be the bad guy. :(
: With all do respect to the creator(s) of emuloader, it's the exact oppostie fo what every fe developer aroudn these parts is working on. It's extremely "windowsy" and we are trying to do the exact opposite. Delphi is also a rather strange choice for a prog lang. It seems that emul could have been made much more rapidly in vb or even v c++. But I'm bitchin as usual so you can just disregard all of that if it offends you.
