If you mean remove the TV from it's casing or keep it in it's casing as-is, I think I'd rather keep it in the case. I've heard of people removing the case from the TV to mount it, but I've also heard you run a high risk of damage to the TV by doing it this way. I had an idea of removing the case to allow me to put at least (4) think bolts with large washers inside and then put the case back on and mount it to a 3/4" piece of plywood, then also mount a piece of 2x4 behind the TV to brace it as well.

What do you think?
