In Reply to: What are the most processor/ram/vid card intensive MAME roms? And what does it take to run them? posted by ArcadeFX on February 11, 2002 at 03:14:12:

Bogged like crazy on my mame box with both .57 and .58. My mame box is a P3 550 with 384mb of ram and a viper V550. It didn't phase my regular computer which is a celeron 1.1ghz with 768mb of ram and a Radeon VE. You might be able to stuff one of these celerons that i have in your 700 or 300 if the are slotones. I was able to upgrade mine from an overclocked celeron 300A to the 1.1ghz celeron all I needed was a slotone to fcpga adapter and latest bios. You might want to check it out. The adpater I got is MSI. You have to make sure you get an FCPGA with a voltage control on it or you'll fry the celeron. People will try to pass off ppga adapters as the same thing but they are not. Total cost was $125 you might be able to do it cheaper from price watch. Oh yea one more thing, people say you can use the 1.2ghz and 1.3ghz but I had huge stability problems with them because they are a new chip set.
