I have an extra 12v bosch cordless here, I was toying around with the motor idea too but had no clue as to what to use. Could you rig up the cordless drill to two switches that would be tripped at the extents of the rotation? When it is finished rotating 90 degrees, it bumps a switch and stops the drill. Would a cordless drill have enough torque?

: : Just working on the motor for it, not sure what to use.?

: : I was thinking of hacking cdrom drive?

: Hi, I dont' think the motor in a CDROM drive will provide enough torque to rotate a monitor.
: Are you thinking belt drive, chain drive, direct, or a gear system...a gear system might allow you use a CDROM motor...A 10v-18v motor and battery out of a cordless drill might work. That would give you torque control, speed control, DC power, a button, and direct drive. No ?
