So is it fair to say that kind of setup would run all of the current MAME games with no frameskip? I have a Duron 800 @ 1000 which slows WAAAY down (frameskip goes to 8 or 9) on 2-on-2 NHL Open Ice. If I upgraded to an Athlon 1400, could I expect that game (and others) to run without frameskip? What is the most "taxing" game on MAME right now? 2-on-2 Open Ice and NBA Jam are two that seem to really slow down for me.

: Consider an Athlon instead. the difference between the athlon and duron shows up more in emulation then most places. (I would guess you get less the 80% power per clockspeed with the durons)

: Considering that you can get a 1.4ghz Athlon 266fsb and 512mg ram for less then 200 bucks at pricewatch, it seems hard to go with the duron. Might cost 5 to 10 bucks more for the processor and all the rest is the same...
