Hi,
I too have a SI-227SVGA 27" monitor. It came with my ArcadePC I bought about a year ago. Overall I like it but I too had problems early on. The first monitor's neck board was broke probably in shipping. HanaHo sent another one and the convergence was awful. I looked at the back and the wedges on the neck weren't fixed with glue like the original monitor. I tried messing with the convergence myself (I'm no monitor expert but I knew about the high voltages) and accidentally touched the copper windings and shocked the crap out of myself. I survived but my fingers were numb for about 30 minutes or so. ;(
Anyway, I wasn't happy with the replacement monitor from HanaHo so I called SharpImage and they sent out a replacement and it was much better. Not perfect but I don't think you will find a 27" SVGA monitor that has perfect convergence in this price range. My convergence is only off at the very bottom of the viewable image and I imagine most will be like this. Like I said, I'm no expert but I imagine an arcade operator would shrink the viewable image slightly to reduce convergence errors. I use as much of the image as I can. :) I have no problems with color purity (I fixed it right up with a deguasser) and brightness and contrast are just fine. Black level is also fine IMO.
I haven't tried 1024x768I but I do regularly use 800x600NI and while a grid looks fuzzy, the games look fine. After all, we want that "fuzzy" look anyway.
If I had to do it again, I probably would still use this monitor since it has a much better frequency response than the WG models (31.5KHz - 48.5KHz Horizontal and 50Hz to 90Hz Vertical) plus it still runs Windoze ok. It works well with AdvancedMAME.

: Anyway, I am now thinking of going with a Sharp Image SI-227SVGA 27" monitor since it is about $100 cheaper (and can do both 800x600 and 1024x768i). I've had prior good experiences with the company so I know they'll back their product. Does anyone know anything about it?
