Hello all, this is my first post, many thanks to those who have contributed their information to this site, this information is invaluable, and truly you are heroes of a history and culture that not all people feel is worth holding on to. With that said, here is my question:
My project is a very easy one, I'm hacking a Dreamcast pad to make a stick for my dreamcast, and what I'm looking for is some help with what wires go to where. I can easily see which copper connections on the PCB are ground, and hot, but these cherry microswitches that are in my joystick and buttons are a diferent story. I haven't been able to find any pictures of close-up wiring on these things, so basically, what I'm wondering is, each of these switches has three prongs. I know which one is ground, so I just run one wire from the "Normally open" prong to the corresponding copper surface on the pad? If I wire one ground up to the buttons, can I use that same ground connection and daisy-chain it to all other grounds on the buttons and and stick switches? Or would it be best to wire each ground wire individually. Basically I'm assemblng a street figther 2 button layout using a third party 6-button pad.
Also, I'd like to suggest to anyone else who thinks that this is a good project to visit www.wrongcrowd.com, there is some great info for doing this same thing with virtually any game console controller. Thanks for your time folks, happy gaming!
