I asked about removing the case for ventilation and was advised not to down below on the board somewhere.

Last night I taped off the screen and painted the front of the monitor black. I bought some type of board from a craft store about 1/8 inch thick and I plan to cut a hole in it for the monitor. Will let you know how that goes tonight. From what I have seen of other people's projects, it looked pretty good on the web. In person might be different story though.

Good luck.

: I know I have seen examples where people has removed the shell of a SVGA monitors to make them look more like a arcade monitor. Anyone has any useful links?

: I have an old Hitatchi 20" monitor with a "round" CRT tube like the arcade monitors. I just wonder if it is worth the job to remove the shell to make it look more genuine? And how big is the risk that I will fry my self doing it?
