Make a SVGA monitor look more like an arcade monitor (read on)

I know I have seen examples where people has removed the shell of a SVGA monitors to make them look more like a arcade monitor. Anyone has any useful links?

I have an old Hitatchi 20" monitor with a "round" CRT tube like the arcade monitors. I just wonder if it is worth the job to remove the shell to make it look more genuine? And how big is the risk that I will fry my self doing it?
