To get the best result painting a cabinet, you really need a spray gun and compressor. Spray paint in my opinion will end up taking a long time and be hard to get proper coverage and an even look. With all that in mind, if you don't have the luxery of a spray gun, or (like me) don't want to mess with it, just use a foam roller. It goes on real quick and covers real nice. I used a small brush to get hard to reach areas. I'm perfectly happy with my cabinets finish and I rolled it.
So there are, IMO, the 2 ends of the spectrum.
