VGA vs Standard Arcade Monitors 26"

Hi everybody,
I'm purchasing a TMNT cabinet and it has a standard 26" monitor in it. Will I be able to run all the current MAME games with this monitor? I assume to that I can only use ArcadeOS for a frontend and not Arcade@home as it works off windows.
Also will the newer games in MAME coming out will still run without a VGA monitor? Or should I just spend $$$$ and get a 26" VGA monitor?
