If all the software you're using is remapable, just map the letters to the LP24, then remap your software to those letters.
: I bought an LP-24 a few weeks ago and finally have it hooked up to an arcade machine I have built. I have a problem that is detailed below. I got these results in both Dos and Windows.
: I am using a 2x12 matrix. Here is the first part of the matrix and it is assigned to these four arrow keys:
: 1 2
: A Up Left
: B Down Right
: I have it hooked to a joystick such that it is impossible to hit left and right at the same time and the same applies to up and down.
: The problem is that if I go back and forth somewhat quickly between left-right or up-down it will start missing one direction. For instance, it starts only registering left-left-... instead of left-right-left.... The direction it sticks it depends on the first direction you start going. In other words, it is not always stuck the same way.
: However, if I change the mapping from arrow keys to single letters, the problem goes away. Although, it still doesn't seem like it works as fast as I would expect. The only difference I can see between these two scenarios is that the arrow key scan codes are much longer than the single letters, as if it is just too slow to keep up.
: I have a program that dumps the scan codes from the 8042 keyboard controller and it sure looks like sometimes the stream has spurious characters in it as if a buffer on the LP24 is getting overrun.
: Has anyone run into an issue like this? Please let me know if you've seen anything like this or have any advice on how to fix this problem.
: Would a KE-24 or KE-72 work better since they have a "fast" version?
: Thanks,
