3/4" or 5/8" of an inch? It seems like most have gone with 5/8", but most authentic cabs are 3/4". Does that sound right? What are the drawbacks of 3/4"? Is it just a matter of weight and cost? I was just at Home Depot, where I looked over their 4' x 8' slabs of board. The Density board looked great - $19 for the 3/4 and $14-$15 for the 5/8". The 3/4" board seemed to be as heavy as granite. They also had regular partical board that had laminate on one side for $5 more. It was called Melanin? I forget the dang name. It had a pretty slick white surface. I was wondering how hard that would be to paint. Anybody used this kind of material?
