: The Happ trackball interface is $50, so why pay even $40 for a mouse hack? When its a 2 to 20 dollar mouse it makes since to hack them, you're saving at least $30 over the interface.

That's true. I was thinking the Happ interface was much more than $50. I just checked their site and saw that they even have circuit boards with the optics on it now. That would make hacking non-Happ trackballs/spinners easy.

: I think a Belkin mouse wouldn't have these troubles (same mice used in Twisty Grip spinners), and they're easy to find for $20 or less (often $10). I'm going to be using one in a hack of a Playstaion Trackball soon. This PSX trackball is alot more arcade like than the average PC trackball, and can be found online for less than $10.

I don't think the Belkin mouse would work any better. The Twisty plans call for breaking off every other tab on the wheel, effectively cutting the spin rate in half. That would lower the sensitivity on fine movements, though.
