Saint,

Since you're thinking about getting a P-III and Itchy already suggested the Athlon, I'll throw the Celeron curveball atcha!

Xiaou2/Steve is right about the Abit: it has mucho expandability. I have the Abit BP6 dual Celeron board, and I couldn't be happier with it. Easily overclockable if you're into that kind of thing: the board is completely jumperless - EVERYTHING is menu-set in the BIOS. Plus, you can regulate the clock speed, voltage, etc. of each processor individually! Very hip. Dollar-for-dollar, the Celeron is definitely the better buy over the Pentium III.

Oh yeah, and I second Nick's motion against the Maxtor drive. I've seen quite a few crap out too. I've got the IBM Deskstar which runs at 7200rmps. It's fast and quiet.

You asked! Man-oh-man, here come the opinions!
