First of all, I know next to nothing about electronics, (Never even held a soldering iron) so I figure I'd seek advice from you guys, who seem to know plenty about the intricacies of a joystick..

I have a Super NES Championship joystick (by C&L controls) that I'd like to be banging away on at PC games. I am building a cabinet as well, but that project's been postponed due to financial restricitons. Anyway, the joystick is completely microswitch based, much like a Hotrod or something. I'm thinking of doing something like a pad hack.. funny, the only thing soldered onto the circuit board are the chips, the actual wires are secured by small metal cylindrical dealios which are cut down one side, the wires are fitted into the slot, and the metal cuts through the plastic surrounding the wire. So, my extremely uneducated first approach is to take a cheap PC gamepad, cut the cord, and fit the wires into the cylindrical dealios. That sounds too easy, and I'm sure there are alot of flaws in my logic. So, I was wondering if some of you could point them out. (I've also heard of similar experiments frying the gameport or motherboard, we don't want to do that) Or, maybe some if you have a better idea. Any thoughts on how an electronics idiot could get a simple remedy for this horrible ailment? (Playing Golden Axe with a pad) I've tried time and time again to get one of those PC arcade sticks we see around here, but Stick It returned my money having no product to actually send (You think maybe they'd MENTION that on their WEBSITE?! They told me to go ahead and order one.) They don't seem to feel the need to respond to email now. I then ordered one of those mod Custom Arcade panels, and just after their "Go ahead and order" response to my availability check email, the company falls off the face of the earth. I then went to Hotrod, who's unprogrammable sticks are something of a turnoff (No esc. button) but I can't even order from them, because now my stupid check card number isn't working. I'm thinking about going with Zipstick, but I'll wait and see how their reliability holds up.

Thanks,
Scott
