I've always seen the joysticks mounted in 1 1/8" holes, just like buttons. The hole only has to be wide enough to let the shaft of the handle move freely. I'm sure some other sizes would work just fine, but I think 1 1/8" is used because that's already what is used for the buttons...


: I am doing the drilling on my control panels this weekend. On the last control panel that I made, the hole for the joystick was to wide and the joystick handle was to short. So, How deep should I rout my 5/8" board (laminated pine) and how big of a hole should I drill. I will be using contact paper, no plexiglass. Although I may want to add the plexi in the future. Thanks
