8 Way, 4 Way, Just Fluff?

I understand that Pac Man and Frogger weren't designed for use with 8 way joysticks. However is it really that difficult to play with an 8 way? I'm sure it will require getting used to, but has anyone here really been extremely frustrated by using an 8 way for frogger?
