: I'm planing (i'll think about building it if i can get it to work in theory) on a sorta univerisal interface...
: Basically here's what i'm thinking about
: My custom built controls have a big fat plug on the end of them (more on this later) and i can either plug that into a keyboard encoder, directly into a dongle on a keyboard/keyboard hack/adapter to (almost) any console (via a pad hack)...
: i'm going with 10 buttons per controller here (4 dir/8 buttons/start/select..psx)
: which is 14 individual signals and as far as i can see it i'm going to have to need 2 wires per signal (so it would work with ANY keyb hack,etc...)
: which is just 3 more wires then a db25 has (would of been perfect)
: i was looking at scsi 1 db50 connectors, but i don't know of a place that sells solder connectors for these (in Australia)...
: once i have it all worked out i'll make a nice big write up about it...

:
: i was looking into making a couple of psx adapters (for friends and myself) and is there a cheaper way of getting/making connectors then hacking extension cords/multitaps..

:
: remove the nospam. from my email address to mail me..

If the DB25 is not enough for you then you can get a Centronics switchbox. This will switch 35 lines at once. This company sell a 4 position one for $10....dont know what it would cost to ship to you though.

But if you think about it....how many PC games or MAME games will need 8 buttons per joystick....none that I can think of. So if you just hook up 6 for each joystick for PC games that will be 4 less buttons you need to switch and the DB25 will work.

If you need any more help just let me know!
