speaking from experience i have had good luck with
my super 8's. they are both 8 way and 4 way, but you must flip this hour glass piece to do it. i leave them in 8 way mode and they are great. i play a lot of pacman and they work well. you just have to train yourself not to fudge the direction you are pointing in. for the most part 8 way's will work for any game you throw at them. if you absolutely must have 4 way for pacman etc. then you may want to consider adding a small 4 way in additon to a couple of 8 ways on your control panel. hope this helps.
