OK, first, as far as MAME is concerned, no problem. It is using the same Chrontel CH7007A chip as the V7700 for TV out, so the quality of the S-video is going to be very good. Here's the catch though, it won't be as good if you want to do any 3D stuff, like PC games or High Level Emulation like N64 Emus. Reason: it not only tops out at 32 MB (standard is 16) but i'ts Single Data Rate memory instead of the DDR (Dual Data Rate) memory, used by the 7700. So overclocking the core CPU will be useless. You can overclock the GPU by a bit, since it cools well, but it's not too noticeable.

Should be a kickin' card for MAME, and 2D stuff, but not real intensive 3D stuff. Go with the 7700 for that.

One more thing, in my brief research I noticed that in pictures of the card, they seemed to reserve room on the cards main board for the Brooktree 869 chip, which the ATIs and many other cards use for TV-out. be careful when you buy, make sure the card you get kept the Chrontel chip design, and it's not one optioned for the Brooktree design.

Both do the TV-out, but the Chrontel is the leader.

God luck.

: : Hello all! I haven't posted in quite some time but now I need some advice. I want to put a 25" s-vid TV in the Goldmine to replace the 17" monitor, but I need a new video card to do it. I see that Gadgetman and others have had great luck with the ASUS V7700 GTS version of the Geforce2, but the cheapest I can find it is for $230. The ASUS V7100 MX I can find for $125, but I can't find any detailed specs to tell what the difference is between the two. Can anyone tell me why one is twice what the other is? I really don't care about 3D performance, this is a MAME cabinet mainly, with some other console gaming occasionally, very little in PC stuff.
