The happ trackwheels are $110 each. The Twistygrip spinners are don't cost near as much money, but they take a lot of work to complete. And, the outcome is going to rely heavily on your construction skills. How's this for a middle-ground alternative...
Take a Happ Optical Rotary Joystick ($40), cut the shaft down, lock the axes somehow, and mount a spinner on the cut shaft! Seems like for a little more than $50 you could have a high-quality spinner, without too much work involved. Has anyone tried this yet?
