A good point (but I have to defend my analogy) =)

: There are some people who started with a keyboard hack out of necessity, and in subsequent projects quickly switched to an encoder for much greater convenience. Hindsight may be an even better seller for Hagstrom and I-Pac than you think.

Hmm...you're right actually, it probably is. I suppose once I get my first CP done I'll want something easier if I decide to make multiple ones. I don't want to invest that much yet though.

: No, it's not the same concept. It's more like if you have trouble keeping your Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz in working shape (had a fuel line cut-out yet? Ask my wife), then having a friend recommend you get a Honda Civic. Like Clorets, they may cost a little more, but (in many people's opinion) they're worth it.
------------------------------------

Well, the only difference in our examples in the scale. Just think about it though...this isn't a 'little' more, if you look at it percentage wise its a -ton- more. In my case I'm using a 11 button gamepad which cost me $8 total (shipping included) off ebay. Lets round it to $10. The iPAC is around $50 shipped. That's a 500% increase. Now think if you applied the same thing to cars...of course the 50k mercedes is better, but when you can only afford or are only willing to spend 10k, that's not a helpful option.

Ugh...I came off a little harsher then I wanted to in my last post, I can completely understand why people recommend it...I guess I'm just in a pissy mood. =)
