I just did an archive search for an old post I made about this...here it is:

I found another great fix for trackball jitters. Look at your mouse driver options to see if it provides an acceleration curve setting (the drivers provided with the crystal trackball enable it by default). Disable the curve!! Do any fine tuning required with the analog sensitivity settings in mame and you're set. I'm completely satisfied with my trackball now.

Type "mouse /?" to see the available options.
"mouse /a4" turns off the curve

I also just disabled the dynamic resolution. That seems to have helped the overall feel, too.

Those trackball golf games are finally playable!!
