A PC Monitor is going to look clear and crisp. An Arcade monitor will appear more like a television picture you play your home console on.

You might think that would make the PC monitor better, but in fact things look better on the arcade monitor because is smooths out the jagged edges (sort of like antialiasing).

And most obviously, the arcade monitor will make the games look like you remember them in the arcade, whereas with a PC monitor you're going to say "geez I never realized Mario was such a blocky little bastard"...

: hi, i'm in the (very) early stages (dreaming?) of planning a mame cabinet. i'm hoping someone can explain in qualitative (descriptive) terms how a pc monitor is different from an arcade monitor?

: if i had the same game (say gauntlet or starwars) playing on the two monitors side by side, how would they differ?

: anyone have any photos online i could compare?

: thanks
