The control mapping you set out looks right. Even if it turns out not to be a totally accurate twin-stick, as long as it can perform all the moves the standard DC pad can do, it should be a success.

I did have one question about handling diagonals on the D-pad - I'm assuming when you press up+left on the DC controller you strafe forward+left. How will you do that with your twinsticks? My guess is the proper twinstick move would be both sticks J1+J2 up+left. Will that work correctly? Is that how the real thing works?

Ok and what about when you press D-pad up+left+A? This should move you forward while rotating left (instead of strafing left and forward)? What's the proper way to do this on the twinstick? Would it be J1-forward+left, J2-forward? or J1-forward+left, J2-neutral? Will your circuit be able to handle this?
