It will take a month of playing to REALLY get into how the game works. The funny thing about robotron is that you could get really good, play one awsome high scoring game one minute, and then get your butt kicked the next. Its my opinion that Eugine Jarvis (creator) purposely made the game work like this to piss people off and keep them coming back for "revenge" (pumping in the quarters). This is the reason why I bought the orignal cab. :-)
