No need to discharge it. I took a VGA extension cable and used a multimeter on it to figure out what wires where what. Then I used a Jamma harness to tap into the monitor, but you can do it at the molex connector pins on the monitor as well. Just find your R G B pins (luckily my KI cab game with the manual for the monitor) and twist the V & H sync on the VGA cable together and run it to the sync pin on the monitor and that's it. Just make sure you don't run raw VGA signals to it. I use ArcadeOS with the option for an arcade monitor set in the .cfg file, and it works great. Good luck.
