I read through Derrick's idea and it sounds interesting. I realize that his IC would work for any program, not just MAME.

However, the post below from Jeoff Krontz, seems to imply that the MAME 37b4 source code already implements the "sticky" joystick behavior.

Could someone familiar with this or with MAME source code please review and comment.

Also, I seem to remember something about a -use joy4way command line switch.

Does anyone know anything about this?
