In Mame32, I re-map the Hotrod SE buttons to perform the functions that I want. If you hit the TAB key while playing Mame32, you can select "Input for this game" and re-map the HotRod SE buttons. I typically map the HotRod SE player 1 button to Mame32's player 1 button and player 1 coin up button (this makes it so that sometimes I have to hit the button twice to register a coin, but it doesn't bother me). You could also use one of the pinball flipper buttons on the sides of the HotRod SE.

According to other messages posted here, you could also add buttons to the HotRod SE. Personally, I wouldn't do that because I like the controller as it is. I have seen a lot of panels that have everything but the kitchen sink thrown in -- I prefer less cluttered control panels.
