I only see one compatibility problem between PS1/PSX and the PS2, and that is some games require analog support right when they boot...if you have an old PSX pad and try booting up SSX on a PS2, it won't work. If you use the newer PSX dual shock, it works fine. It just needs to recognize some sort of analog support.
